Children’s Day- 14 November

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of our country India, was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad. Jawaharlal Nehru,popularly known as Chacha Nehru, was very fond of children. His love for children was immense. He always advocated that the children of the country are entitled to a fulfilling childhood and education. Due to the immense love for the children of Chacha Nehru ,after the death of Nehru in 1964, November 14 was celebrated as Children’s Day. This day is celebrated to shower love and affection towards children.

School and Colleges in our country celebrate Children’s Day with great enthusiasm. To celebrate this day, teachers and students of every school go out of their routine. Children are the guides of the future. So every school celebrates this day with various programs like discussion, cultural activities, dance, singing and drama.

Chacha Nehru always believed that a child is the future of the tomorrow. Therefore, through drama, teachers tell the children about the importance of having a full childhood for a better tomorrow on the day of Children’s Day. On this day teachers and parents shower their love and affection towards the children by sitting and gifting chocolate and toys to the children. The school teacher tells the children of the orphanage and slum about their future.

Nehru ji had a big contribution in the independence of the country as well. As the Prime Minister, he had given proper guidance to the country. Children’s Day is an important day for children. Children look very happy on this day. They go to school dressed up. Children organize events in school. He fondly remembers his uncle Nehru. On this day children display their art. Teachers tell the children the importance of education.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had said that today’s children will make tomorrow’s India. The way we get them will decide the future of the country.

Children’s Day is a beautiful occasion to remember and celebrate the famous thought of Chacha Nehru. Celebrating Children’s Day is a great way to make both children and adults aware that children are the real future of the country. The love and care we give to our children today regardless of their social and economic status will play the role of our country’s future tomorrow. Children are the future of our country and we should pay attention to their education. Raising the standard of living of children should be our priority. Efforts should be made to make them healthy, fearless and capable citizens.

This is the main purpose of celebrating Children’s Day and that is why we celebrate it.
